Long-time restaurant and neighborhood staple, La Fogata Mexican Grill and Bar, announced on Friday afternoon that their family-owned restaurant would officially be closing its doors. Praised for their welcoming environment and inclusive “nuestra casa es su casa” mantra, the 40-year-old establishment is being met with kudos, tears, and well wishes for the family’s future.
In their recent Facebook announcement, many disappointed customers are reflecting on the mouthwatering crispy tacos, one-of-a-kind salsa, and authentic chicken and mole. One guest even remembered the restaurant’s original storefront, Arthur’s, when the Leon family first purchased the building in 1980. Their long-standing record and ownership of the oldest building in Walnut Creek is a testament to not only their authentic cuisine that brought back regulars, always begging for more, but also their pride in serving their community.
